Jayflex plasticizers

Technical Information
Wire & Cable

ExxonMobil Chemical offers a broad slate of Jayflex plasticizers that are particularly well suited for wire and cable applications. Either in jacketing or primary insulation, they are capable of performing under a wide range of conditions that vary from general purpose applications to those requiring high or low temperature performance.

Jayflex DIDP-E  plasticizer is the choice for general purpose wire and cable applications. It provides superior retention of elongation and is widely used as a plasticizer for vinyl insulation and jacketing compounds.

Jayflex TINTM and Jayflex DTDP plasticizers are used where higher temperature ratings are required. Jayflex TINTM is a monomeric plasticizer with very low volatility. It is preferred over polymeric plasticizers due to its overall performance features: lower cost, lower viscosity and increased solvating ability. Jayflex DTDP is used because of its high molecular weight and high permanence.

Where low-temperature performance is required Jayflex L9P , Jayflex L11P-E  and Jayflex DINA  are used because they enhance low-temperature properties.

Customized blends have been shown to be a cost-effective route for high temperature performance at an affordable price. For example, the first step in formulation for high temperature rated wire and cable compounds is to incorporate Jayflex DTDP plasticizer instead of using trimellitates exclusively. Significant levels of Jayflex DTDP plasticizer can be used while still meeting oven aging requirements. Jayflex DTDP plasticizer performs well under severe test conditions (7 Days @ 136°C - 15 mils in insulation thickness).
